The Blue Point Box Turtle Sculpture and Memorial

About

Blue Point, Brookhaven, NY

2017

The Schultz family wanted to memorialize William, who died at the age of 7 early in 2017. His parents thought a sculpture of a turtle – one of the animals he loved – would be a great memorial that could be placed at a new park, the Blue Point Nature Preserve. We worked with the family to create a sculpture of an indigenous box turtle species and a plaque and to modify a natural rock to fit them both. The Memorial will be a lasting reminder of William for his family, friends, and visitors to the park.
